So I went to the Drum Circle tonight, and a police helicopter fewl above everyone, and the police told everyone they could stay, but had to stop drumming!
Is this new? Why are they doing this? Are they saying they get noise complaints?
Does anyone have any experience with petitioning? I'd be really interested in getting something going to save the drum circle.
But what would this petition have to say exactly?
We probably need to find out what law they are saying the drummers are violating. And get a petition to sanction the drum circle from whatever that may be?
I don't know how that works, any info would be helpful.

Re: Venice Drum Circle Police Intervention
Sat, May 31, 2008 - 12:45 AMMost times I go to the Saturday or Sunday drum circles in the afternoon, a cop car or two comes by. They park close to the circle, walk around, give ticket to folks with dog or alcohol, make their presence known, and then usually leave. Most folks choose to ignore them and keep on playing, dancing, covertly smoking j's, etc.

Re: Venice Drum Circle Police Intervention
Sun, June 1, 2008 - 10:56 PMthat was earlier this year. I was told there there to enforce the rules of no groups on the beach after dark because the neighborhood still isn't that safe. which is true, but ITS THE BEACH! why does a historic circle of happiness have to be messed with. -
